what to look for in a child care centre

It is a big decision to make on where and when to send your child to Child Care or Kinder.

Our website has been designed to give you as much information as we can about the Centre in your area, however the best thing to do is to arrange a time to go and visit the centre.

From the minute you walk in the door you will get a sense of belonging and you will know you have chosen the right place for you and your child. When looking through our Early Learning Centre’s ask as many questions as you like, talk to the Educators in the classroom, see the classroom set ups, routines in action and this will set you at ease immediately.

As a parent looking for child care or kinder for the first time you may find the following questions helpful when starting your investigations in to different centres:

What is the atmosphere like throughout the centre?

Is the environment friendly, are the children settled, happy, involved in activities?

What qualifications do the Educators hold?

Do the Educators have First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training?

Are the Educators warm and inviting?

Are the Educators actively involved in activities with the children?

  What Educational Programs are provided?

Are you able to view the Education Programs and child portfolios?

Does the Centre use an approved framework such as the Early Years Learning Framework to guide their            Educational Programs?

Is the Centre clean, and can you see the Educators following hygiene practices?

  What meals are provided?

How often does the menu change?

What are the arrangements for allergies or additional needs?

  What are the daily fee’s?

What assistance will I receive from the Government through Benefits and rebates?

What are the opening and closing times of the centre?

Do you as a parent have the opportunity to participate in the Educational Program?

At our Early Learning Centres a friendly atmosphere is created within our environment, based on warm and caring relationships between our educators and the children in their care.
